About
Since its founding in 2001, Base Camp Films has maintained a busy slate of projects in non-fiction/reality television, and has expanded its scope of work to docu-series, documentaries, and web-based entertainment properties.
It’s longest lasting series, The Great Christmas Light Fight for Fremantle/ABC, has completed a full decade of successful seasons, winning multiple awards, and handing out $3 million in prize money to families with the best Christmas displays in the country. Showrunner Brady Connell also served as Executive Producer/showrunner on the CBS series Secret Celebrity Renovation and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for Endemol/ABC.
Base Camp Films has produced dozens of non-fiction projects including Six Degrees of X for Sony Television International, the successful 8-episode series Filthy Rich: Cattle Drive for E! Entertainment, a million-dollar prize special for GSN entitled Worldwide Web Games, a scripted comedy webisode series for The Second City, a highly-rated documentary special for the Discovery Channel, a set of reality commercials for Suzuki, and No Boundaries, a 13-episode remote location series in partnership with Ford Motor Company and Global TV Canada.
Base Camp has developed television projects for dozens of buyers, including FOX, YouTube, A&E, Discovery, Disney Channel, E!, Buzzfeed, MTV, Spike, Chinese television, and TLC. Base Camp has partnered with studios and companies such as Imagine Television, Activision, BBC Worldwide, Electronic Arts, Fox21, FoxTV Studios, ITV Studios, and Scott Free Productions on various non-scripted and scripted formats created or acquired by Base Camp.
Base Camp released its first iTunes app based on its own multi-level character-based children’s property The Historables. The company also has a long-standing relationship with The American Red Cross, with whom it has developed a doc reality series based on the volunteers and staff of the organization.
With various strategic partners in networked media, Base Camp is in development on several large-scale hybrid reality shows, and on projects ranging from non-fiction features, to VR/AR, to internet entertainment experiences. Base Camp founders and co-owners Brady Connell and Jim Jusko seek to carve out new territory in entertainment, using their experience in non-fiction television as a basis for creative exploration in other media.
