Base Camp Gets ‘Gift’ from SciFi

March 3, 2006

2006 is shaping up to be a present-filled year for Base Camp Films. In addition to their partnerships with Imagine Television on Fox’s announced X-Quest, owners Brady Connell and Jim Jusko will Executive Produce and showrun SciFi Channel’s The Gift, a reality series that gives ordinary people a chance to develop their psychic skills. Base Camp will co-produce with Tony Krantz’s Flame TV.

“Most people have had some kind of intuitive experience in their lives, whether it is foretelling an accident, willing an event to happen, or knowing who is on the other end of the phone before it rings,” states Connell, who has two Emmys to his credit for The Amazing Race. “What we’ve learned since we came on the project is that these skills can be developed, and for a person who is open to it, the new skills can change their life forever.”

Jusko says they have some of the world’s top psychics on board to take the participants through a psychic “boot camp,” at the end of which one will be deemed to have The Gift, and will win an around the world trip for two to the most spiritual places on earth.

The Gift will premiere on the SciFi Channel this summer. Applications for participants can be found at www.scifi.com.
